Restoration Wednesdays and Fridays

Hey guys! Hopefully I will be posting a series on my youtube where I take my dolls and fix them so they seem brand new. I will be including all of my dolls (even bitty twins and babies) except for Lanie, Rebecca, and maybe my first bitty baby, Rose. I will have to be sending Rose to the doll hospital because when I first got her I was really young and I thought she didn't have any hair so I took a pen and scribbled on her head so she had "hair". My friend Annabelle from annabellescraftycorner blog will be in the first vid.

This will be a Summer series so I will do it twice a week on Wednesday and Friday

Duct Tape Doll Purse

To create this AWESOME duct tape doll purse you will need an exacto knife (or hobby knife whatever you call it), cutting board, or a ruler and scissors, and of course duct tape. It does not matter what brand of duct tape you use I have used Duck Brand, Scotch and Kid Made Modern. You can make this for any doll size I will be showing you how to make it for a Barbie and an AG Doll, you can size it to any size you want.

Step 1: AG Doll:                                                       Barbie:

Cut 4 pieces of tape that are 3 inches long     Cut 4 pieces of tape 2 inches and cut 1/4 of the top off of each piece of tape

Step 2: stick 2 pieces together and the other 2 together so you have 2 double sided sheets for the Barbie purse and AG purse
Step 3: This most definitley the hardest step so I will show it to you in a video

Use the vid to do the same thing for the barbie but cut the strip 4 in.

Restoring Lanie

I have an american girl doll named Lanie (GOTY 2010) and her hair was in pretty bad shape but not as bad as my other doll Elizabeth. Lanie is a beautiful doll but not fun to play with when her hair looks like a rats nest.

This is a good video if you would like to restore your doll Restoring an old American Girl doll
it was the video that got me interested in restoring dolls.

This is Lanie before
And After
I did the same things in the video but made up my own curling method because every time I tried the one in the vid the hair would get caught and tangled

This  is what it looks like (I am showing you it on Rebecca)

To do this first you mist the hair and brush it (it does not matter if the hair is straight or not)
Then you will start to twist the hair with your fingers

Twist the hair until it starts to coil up on itself
Twist it until the coil has just a bit of hair left and bobby pin it into place
Do this with different sections of hair until all of the hair is in coils let the hair dry over-night and take it out in the morning
